Research Goals & Collaboration

This project highlights open research opportunities and invites collaboration to advance soapberry bug science. Key goals include identifying range overlaps and hybrid zones, documenting range expansions (including new continents), and discovering new species and host plant associations through shared data and coordinated research.

Leptocoris rubrolineatus may feed also on the California boxelder, and, if so, may have been carried (by man?) to those pockets of the southwest where it has been found, and where perhaps it feeds now on other boxelder varieties. Until we know more about the host plants of both Leptocoris species, speculation may be luxuriant, but fruitless.”
